This product, drilling fluid oxidized bitumen powder, is manufactured by subjecting bitumen and surfactants to an oxidation process. It replaces traditional sulfonated asphalt blends and features cationic properties that significantly enhance its performance. The introduction of cationic groups improves the product's inhibition capability, stability, and wall-building properties within the drilling fluid. It effectively reduces fluid loss and solid content, while improving the structural and mechanical properties of the drilling fluid.

As a cementing agent for plugging materials, it enhances the sealing efficiency of plugging agents. In non-lost circulation drilling fluids, the bitumen colloid helps seal and lubricate the wellbore.
