This advanced emulsifier is a specialized liquid formulation of organic fatty acids engineered to perform as a highly efficient Water-in-Oil Primary Emulsifier for mineral oil-based drilling fluids. Its primary function is to generate a robust and stable invert emulsion by reacting with lime (calcium hydroxide) to form calcium soaps in situ. This reaction creates a high-integrity membrane that encapsulates the internal brine phase, which is critical for controlling fluid invasion in water-sensitive shale formations and high-pressure, high-temperature (HPHT) well sections.
As a dedicated Water-in-Oil Primary Emulsifier, this product is fundamental in stabilizing emulsions with high-density brines, such as calcium chloride (CaCl₂) or calcium bromide (CaBr₂). It significantly enhances the fluid's electrical stability (ES) and delivers superior high-pressure, high-temperature filtration control, reducing the risk of differential sticking and formation damage. The product demonstrates exceptional thermal resilience, maintaining performance stability at bottomhole temperatures exceeding 350°F (177°C).
Furthermore, this emulsifier strongly promotes oil-wetting of all solid phases, including weighting agents (e.g., barite), drilled cuttings, and organophilic clays. It improves particle dispersion in high-density fluids, mitigates sagging, and ensures uniform density profile. It is fully compatible with all conventional oil-based and synthetic-based drilling fluid additives.
