Product Introduction:
PACL filtration control additive is a high-quality Polyanionic Cellulose (PAC) polymer. It is used in most water-based drilling fluids, including fresh water, seawater, and brine, up to 300°F. PACL has a minimal increase in rheology, is non-toxic, and does not require a biocide. PACL can also encapsulate solids to control the dispersion of active shale.

Application in Drilling Fluid (Calcium-Treated Systems)

As a Filtration Control Additive, it exhibits excellent calcium tolerance, preventing excessive clay flocculation caused by calcium ions. This ensures the drilling fluid maintains optimal flocculation, stable solids content, and consistent rheology, thereby enhancing overall fluid performance.

It is highly effective in brine drilling fluids, seawater-based systems, and saturated saltwater fluids, demonstrating strong resistance to salt, calcium, and magnesium contamination. When used as a rheology modifier, it enables rapid viscosity adjustment at low dosages, promotes efficient drill cuttings removal, and helps maintain low solids content-contributing to improved drilling rates.

As a Filtration Control Additive, it forms a compact, low-permeability filter cake. Since the filtrate composition closely resembles the formation water, it minimizes reservoir damage while ensuring superior fluid-loss control.

 

Application in Completion & Workover Fluids

Cement Slurries

Enhances slurry fluidity, providing optimal initial viscosity and reduced fluid loss. It stabilizes the wellbore and prevents fluid invasion into formation pores and fractures.

Packer Fluids

Regulates fluid rheology, improves thixotropy, and enhances solids suspension. Due to its high salt resistance (particularly to monovalent ions), it is ideal for clear brine-based packer fluids.

Fracturing Fluids

Rapidly increases viscosity for efficient proppant transport into fractures, creating high-permeability channels. It significantly reduces fluid loss, enabling rapid pressure buildup for effective fracture propagation. Unlike guar gum, it leaves no residue, ensuring minimal formation damage.
