Description

Product Overview

HEM‑POLYAMINE INHIBITOR is a low‑molecular‑weight, polymer‑blended liquid containing polyamine derivative, engineered as a polyamine shale inhibitor for water‑based drilling fluid systems. It serves as the primary shale inhibitor within the HEM DRIL water‑based drilling fluid system, controlling reactive clay and sensitive shale exposed to aqueous drilling fluids.

Acting as a clay hydration suppressant, the HEM POLYAMINE INHIBITOR reduces inter‑platelet spacing within the clay lattice to block water‑phase penetration, limiting shale swelling and cuttings dispersion across fresh water, seawater and monovalent‑brine systems.

It flocculates dispersed clays and colloidal particles for removal through solids‑control equipment, supporting stable rheology and clean mud management. Proven performance in riser and deep‑water applications positions this drilling fluid additive as a core component of the HEM DRIL high‑performance WBM package.

Highlights

Reduces shale hydration and suppresses swelling of sensitive reactive formations

Maximizes cuttings integrity and reduces accretion‑related bit balling

Flocculates dispersed clays and colloidal particles for effective solids‑control removal

How It Works

Polyamine derivative chains intercalate between clay platelets and reduce inter‑platelet spacing. This limits water‑phase penetration into the clay lattice, suppressing hydration and swelling of reactive shales. Simultaneously, the polymer flocculates dispersed clays and colloidal particles, enabling their removal through solids‑control equipment while supporting shear‑thinning flow behavior.

Applications & Recommended Treatment

Applications / Functions

Primary shale inhibitor for the HEM DRIL water‑based drilling fluid system

Suitable for fresh water, seawater and monovalent‑brine muds up to 150 °C

Applicable to onshore and offshore operations, including riser and deep‑water intervals

Recommended Dosage

Typical treatment range: 1.5‑2 vol‑% by mud volume. Final dosage shall be confirmed through laboratory pilot testing based on shale reactivity, mud density and downhole conditions.

Addition guidance:HEM‑POLYAMINE INHIBITOR can be added directly into the active mud system without altering viscosity or filtration properties. Use as primary inhibitor for the HEM DRIL WBM formulation.

Advantages

Temperature stable up to 150 °C; higher service is achievable when paired with oxygen scavengers

Highly effective in KCl/polymer water‑based drilling fluids

Environmentally acceptable for both onshore and offshore use

Direct addition without impacting rheology or filtration performance

FAQ

Q1. What pre‑job lab work should be completed before field deployment?

A1. Run laboratory pilot testing with your actual mud formula and formation‑specific shale samples to confirm treatment rate and additive compatibility.

Q2. How does HEM‑POLYAMINE INHIBITOR behave under higher bottom‑hole temperatures?

A2. It is rated up to 150 °C. For elevated temperatures, incorporate oxygen scavengers and validate stability through project‑specific hot‑rolling aging tests.

Q3. Can it be co‑mixed with other shale inhibitors or polymer additives?

A3. Compatibility lab screening is required for combined formulations. Add separately under circulating conditions to avoid interaction with dry‑blended powders.

Q4. What are the on‑site storage and handling requirements?

A4. Store in a cool, dry, ventilated warehouse; keep containers sealed to prevent contamination and respect the 12‑month shelf‑life limit.

Q5. Are lab‑evaluation samples and technical documents available?

A5. Free lab‑evaluation samples are available for qualification testing upon business request. Datasheet and SDS documentation can be provided. Contact our sales team for support.

Q6. Where can I view full commercial procurement terms?

A6. Packaging specifications are listed in Technical Specifications. Complete procurement parameters are shown in the Procurement Trust Information table below.
