PRODUCT NAME: Alkalinity Control, ME-LIME
COMPOSITION / INFORMATION ON INGREDIENTS AND APPLICATIONS
Alkalinity Control, ME-LIME is an essential additive for oil-based drilling fluids. It is primarily composed of high-purity lime, manufactured through a process that includes calcination, impurity removal, and ultrafine grinding. The Ca²⁺ ions provided by this Alkalinity Control agent promote the formation of binary metal soaps, enabling emulsifiers to perform at maximum efficiency. These binary metal soaps contain dual hydrocarbon chains that align at the interface to form a convex oil surface, facilitating stable water-in-oil emulsions and enhancing overall emulsion stability.
In addition to regulating alkalinity, Alkalinity Control, ME-LIME effectively neutralizes acidic contaminants such as CO₂ and H₂S from formation gases, preventing them from degrading oil-based drilling fluid performance. This additive is designed to optimize pH and alkalinity levels, which are critical for controlling system properties like contaminant detection, solubility of thinners and divalent metal ions, and clay dispersion or flocculation.
