Description

The formulation leverages colloidal and interfacial chemistry principles to create micron-sized cationic asphalt emulsion particles. These positively charged particles exhibit strong electrostatic adsorption onto negatively charged clay surfaces and formation rocks, thereby enhancing the filter cake quality through improved compaction and reduced permeability. Simultaneously, the nano-scale cationic inhibitors penetrate formation microfractures via diffusion and capillary action, where they undergo adhesion and coalescence, effectively forming a resilient sealing layer. This multi-functional mechanism delivers comprehensive wellbore stabilization by providing superior plugging, inhibiting shale hydration through ionic encapsulation, preventing wellbore collapse, minimizing fluid invasion, and ensuring optimal reservoir protection.

Scope of Application
This Cationic Asphalt Reservoir Protector is compatible with all water-based drilling fluid systems, including freshwater, brine, and polymer-based fluids, and is applicable in various well types-from conventional vertical wells to high-angle directional and horizontal wells-in both clastic and shale formations.

Usage and Dosage
The recommended dosage of this Cationic Asphalt Reservoir Protector ranges from 1.0% to 2.0% by volume of the circulating drilling fluid system, depending on formation permeability and wellbore conditions.

Precautions:

The product must be added using a gear pump or submersible pump through the mixing hopper or directly into the suction pit; manual pouring is strictly prohibited to avoid agglomeration and line blockage.

Prolonged storage may lead to slight phase separation, forming a superficial crust (~1 cm). This is a reversible physical phenomenon-mechanical agitation or rolling of the container is sufficient to restore homogeneity and product efficacy.

Packaging, Storage & Transport

Packaged in high-density polyethylene (HDPE) drums, 200 kg net weight per drum.

Store in a cool, dry, well-ventilated environment, protected from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures.

Shelf life: 12 months under proper storage conditions.
